Quietening down!!

My last event of the 2011 season was Weston so now most of the horses are enjoying some time off in the field. Luckily the weather has been brilliant for October so it has meant they haven’t come in looking miserable!

Now the season has finished it’s a great time to catch up with things that have been put on the sideline during the season. Getting my website done was top of my list of priorities so that has now got a big tick next to it and I hope your all enjoying it? The next thing is my HGV License which i’m hoping to take in November. That will be a huge help to me and also a massive relief to my parents who will no longer have to ferry me everywhere! They seem rather keen for me to do it for some strange reason…

Bridgelands has also undergone a massive make over in the last few weeks which has been spearheaded by Lottie. We took full advantage of the nice weather and painted all the gates, stables and walls. Sadly, most days we all ended up with more paint on us then the stables did but it was very good fun. Although, we were all slightly concerned that Lottie may want to change careers to be an interior designer as she has discovered another one of her many talents; she is a dab hand with a paint brush! After this the paint brush was quickly removed and a pitch fork thrust into her hands…phew!

I’ve also been doing alot of teaching which I personally find really enjoyable. I spent a day teaching the Petersfield Pony Club at Merrist Wood which was really interesting and hopefully enjoyed by all that attended. The Petersfield was my Pony Club when I was younger and I had so much fun that it’s brilliant to be able to give something back. I think the children weren’t very impressed when I told them to take their stirrups away: ‘No pain. No gain.’ was shouted round the indoor school! I also donated a lesson to go to auction at their annual AGM and was shocked to hear that it went for rather a large amount of money which is great for them.

This time of year is when I start to think about 2012 and make early plans for where I want to go with each of the horses. The most important thing to any rider is horse power as you can be the best rider in the world but if you haven’t got the horses then you’re not going to make it. I am very lucky to have the horses and owners that I have got but am always on the lookout for more to join my string. So if anyone out there is looking for a new rider for their horse or has a young horse they want bringing on then please get in touch.

 Until next time…

Great website and very well laid out — look forward to following your blog and hope this winter season you get to recharge the batteries for a full year next year. I have a couple of pictures from twelsedown you can have plus the ones Ally took of you in the Emvelo kit etc.

Thanks for your help in promoting Emvelo and do hope you go from strength to strength.
    Regards
    Gill
